Anniversary Break
« on: 13 January, 2010, 05:12 PM »
Want to take Mrs Thor away for a weekend around our anniversary (June). Jr is old enough to be left with Grandparents for a weekend so looking for suggestions where to go.

My initial thoughts are to go up to Edinburgh on the sleeper train (Friday), stay in Edinburgh(Saturday) and then fly back to Luton on Sunday.

Paris and Rome are other contenders...

Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully recieved.

Paris! What woman can turn down a trip to the romantic city of Paris?

And its so easy on the Eurostar to get there! Book early enough and it will be cheap too!

Alternatively, if you are going to go for the Edinburgh trip, book the train really early (several weeks in advance) and online and that way you should probably get First Class travel for about £10 a person more than it would cost you to travel standard class. And having travelled both types, First Class is the better option if you can get it :)

Thanks Kai - is that on the sleeper train - because, as far as I can see, first class gets you a single cabin, where as standard class gets you a place for two. Being an Anniversary, I think Mrs Thor would like to be in the same cabin!

Have looked at prices - much higher than you quote and you cant book more than 3 months in advance - what website would you recommend>
